ABOUT US

Craving a way to contribute to the growth of the ever growing yoga and wellness community in Halifax, Ayla Singer decided to start Yoga In The Commons in the summer of 2016.

While the first class consisted of only two people, bringing in different instructors was a great way to promote this outdoor summer business. Each class has doubled in size from the one before. We are now averaging at 30-40 people per class and hoping to have the numbers continue to grow.

Aiming to make our classes accessible to everyone, the classes are directed to all levels of yogis. Not to mention being only $5 per class and located directly in the middle of the city makes it even more appealing.

Yoga In The Commons has deep rooted values in the importance of community. We encourage you to speak to the yogi sitting beside you, ask them what there name is, where they are from, how they are doing and what brought them to class that day. You never know what you can learn from another person or how much a few words and a smile can turn someone's day around.

That's what Yoga In The Commons is all about. Join us sometime under the sun and in the grass for a fun yoga class!

MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS



Ayla Singer



Ayla, the founder of Yoga In The Commons, is so excited to share her practice with the yoga community of Halifax. "I just love that our classes are smack dab in the middle of the city and bringing all types of people outside together in the sun! Come join us Thursdays at 6:30PM"


Lindsay Umlah



Lindsay discovered yoga at a young age through a Junior High elective class. She quickly fell in love with the practice, and that passion deepened and developed, eventually leading her to take her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2013. Yoga has allowed her to deepen her relationship with self, regrounding her in her values and helping to pave a path to a more holistic life. She brings fire, fun and inspiration to all of her classes and aims to leave those she works with vibrating higher.


Rachel MacDonald



Meet Rachel! Bodywork and alternative therapies have been her passion for the last 14 years. Yoga came into the fold for her a decade ago, although her love for the practice was cemented when she took her first teacher training in 2010. Although exceptionally qualified this, humble girl is forever a student.
